We are excited about this coming week and our awesome boys’ and girls’ teams, who have worked so hard this year in basketball!
It is time to say goodbye to February and hello to March while celebrating our school spirit and preparing for our Basketball Championships! Please read through the following explanations of the week’s themes so that you are following the rules and having lots of fun. All participants will be eligible to win fabulous prizes!
Please note: On Monday and Tuesday, the middle school and high school students have different themes. For Wednesday-Friday, the middle and high school students are participating in the same theme each day.
Monday at the Middle School:
“Retro” and “vintage” looks are in these days… for good reason! People wore some pretty great clothes at different times in our more recent American history! Pick a decade and raid the attic or the thrift store to bring back those classic looks. Choose from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s and just remember: No pajamas or sweatpants. All writing, neckline, hemline, rips, and tears rules apply. Dress code appropriate jeans are allowed if clearly part of your outfit. The decade chosen may not be the current era. It must be from the 1980s or earlier.
Monday at the High School:
Historical/Biblical/Movie/Novel Character Day
Who is someone you have always admired or found interesting in history, a movie, a novel…including the Bible? What are the qualities about that person that made him or her unique? In what place, culture, and time period did that person live? Choose a person you will be for the day – and make sure that your outfit gives others clues about who you are! Be creative with your outfits and props, but keep in mind: No pajamas or sweatpants. All writing, neckline, hemline, rips, no writing on shirts and tears rules apply. No jeans, except if your character must wear jeans.
Tuesday at the Middle School:
World Cultures Day
What world cultures intrigue you? Is there a certain style of dress for that culture? This is the day to show it off. Choose a country of the world to represent. If you want to be American, great! Americans love their jeans. You may wear them if at least two other parts of your outfit are clearly and obviously American. No pajamas or sweatpants. All writing, neckline, hemline, rips, and tears rules apply. Exception: name of your country allowed.
Tuesday at the High School:
Find a friend or two or three and dress the same! Jeans are allowed on this day, but only if it is clearly part of your twin outfit. You must be matching in at least three different ways to qualify as a participant in this day. No pajamas or sweatpants. All writing, neckline, hemline, rips, and tears rules apply.
Wednesday – Class Unity Day
Each class must decide on a theme that everyone feels comfortable with. If you can accomplish that, then you really are a unified group! Jeans are allowed if it is clearly part of the unity outfit and every member of the class is okay with it. No pajamas or sweatpants. All writing, neckline, hemline, rips, and tears rules apply.
Thursday — Crazy Hair and Clothes/Fashion Disaster Day
Are you tired of trying to look coordinated? Do you suffer from bed head or wild out of control hair? Worry no longer! Wear mismatched, crazy clothing, and let your hair go wild. Raid the Salvation Army store or your granddad’s closet (with permission). Find crazy colored hair gel, beads, and glitter. No pajamas or sweatpants. No jeans. All writing, neckline, hemline, rips, and tears rules apply.
Friday — Celebrate Sentinels with Blue and Gold Day
Go all out for your favorite high school basketball teams! Be a dedicated and enthusiastic Sentinel. Wear the Sentinels hoodie, a t-shirt from a BCA team or event, or your PE shirt. Wear your cheerleading outfit (with leggings) or uniform from a BCA sport that you participate in, or your theatre t-shirt from previous productions. Paint your face blue and gold or gel your hair blue and gold. You must wear at least three items that go with your personal theme to participate in this day. No jeans or pajamas. Nylon athletic style pants are allowed if they are clearly a part of your outfit. All neckline, hemline, rips, and tears rules apply.
Please join Mrs. Kennedy for a middle/high school parent focus group!
We believe that your children are the future of our school, and we value the partnership between parents and staff. Mrs. Kennedy would like to share her vision and plans for the school over the next 3, 5, and 10 years and solicit your feedback about what you would like to see incorporated into your child’s academic journey.
Two sessions of the focus groups will be offered so that we may accommodate as many parents as possible. We will hold an evening focus group on Wednesday, March 12th from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in Academy Hall, Room 220, on the Northpoint Bible College campus. In addition, we will have a morning focus group on Thursday, March 13th from 8:15 – 9:15 am in the same location.
***Correction! The evening focus group on Wednesday, March 12th has been postponed for now. We realize that next week is very busy with many school-wide events. We want to be respectful of family time, and we are encouraging you to come instead to our production of Haunted on Thursday, March 13th and to the Student/Faculty Basketball game on Friday, March 14th.***
Please RSVP to either the high school or middle school main office if you are able to attend the morning focus group on Thursday, March 13th. We look forward to seeing you!
The Parent Connection is inviting parents to join them for coffee at Mann Orchards in Methuen on Monday, March 3rd from 8:30 – 9:30 am. This informal gathering is a great opportunity to connect with other parents and hear about the Parent Connection–especially for those parents unable to attend the evening meetings.
The next regular meeting of the Parent Connection will be Tuesday, March 4th at 6:30 pm at the Lower School. This meeting will focus on discussions and preparation for Teacher Appreciation Week which is March 10-14th. We will need many volunteers to make this project a success for our teachers!
We hope to see you at one (or both!) of these events!
